The Black house

Located in Kitaakita, Akita prefecture, resides the Black House. This house was infamous for its exterior, which was painted entirely in black, as well as its rumored ominous and deadly past.

History

According to legend, sometime in the early Showa era (1926~1989), a mass murder happened at this infamous location. The main story is that the owner of the house went mad and poisoned the family residing in the house before hanging himself.
After this tragic incident, several different owners moved into the house before promptly moving out.
Once the last family filed out, the house remained abandoned for approximately 60 years.
Allegedly, the abandoned house was a hotspot for suicides. Many people would travel to the vacant property and kill themselves via hanging. There is also a report of a suicide by carbon monoxide occurring on the land.
Following the long string of tragic and disturbing events, the city council finally decided to demolish the house.
During the demolition attempt, a freak accident occurred in which a worker died under heavy machinery.
After this, the demolition attempt was abandoned, and the house became vacant once again.

The Haunting

It's said if you were to ever visit this house, it would feel like time would slow before finally stopping.
Multiple people report being stuck in place, not being able to move even though they try to, similar to sleep paralysis.
People also hear strange noises, and multiple female ghosts have been seen on the property.
Legend has it that if you take a photo within the house, the faces of the murdered family will appear in the photograph.

Architecture / Inside the House

As inferred in the title, this house is infamous for its black paint job, but it was not always painted black.
I personally have not been able to find out when this house was painted over, but it can be presumed it was sometime in the mid to late Showa era based on reports.
The house was presumably painted with coal tar.
Coal tar in modest amounts isn't too unusual for older houses, but entire paint jobs are few and far between.

What Remains

Sometime around 2019, the house was burned down by arsonists and fully demolished.
Where it once stood is a patch of land completely barren of everything except plants.
